Hi, I’m Susan.

In 2017, I moved to the Medlock Place historic district in uptown Phoenix and started a major home remodel project. With no prior knowledge. Or experience. Because chasing after contractors, tripping over Home Depot buckets, and inhaling drywall dust didn’t seem like enough, I also started this blog.

Four years later, the site has grown to include stories beyond those about remodeling. It still carries the name I gave it when it began, mostly because someone told me once that if I was going to write about other topics then I needed to change it – here’s to not being influenced by outside opinions. You’ll still find a fair amount of content about home improvement and things I do in my home, like cooking, alongside my opinions about what to do, see, read, and eat. Here is what you won’t find:

1. Ads or affiliate links. There is no monetization strategy. I’m not selling anything. I am not an influencer (no disrespect to the influencers – I’d love to be in Dubai for “work” too). If I write about a thing, or link to a thing, it’s because I think it’s useful, cool, interesting, thought-provoking, or maybe even terrible.

2. Roundup or listicle posts. The internet does not need any more of this.

3. Stock photography. All photos are mine, shot on an iPhone (sometimes with a Moment lens), unless otherwise noted.

If you have questions, suggestions (I probably won’t take them, but you can try), or want to know more about me, click the clickies in the footer. xx – Susan
